Converting between US zones
Across the contiguous US the rule of thumb holds all year, because all four mainland zones change clocks on the same night: Eastern is 1 hour ahead of Central, 2 ahead of Mountain and 3 ahead of Pacific. Arizona is the exception: it matches Mountain time in winter and Pacific time in summer.
